Trekking with us

There are
misconceptions about how rugged and tough trekking is. It certainly offers a
challenging vacation, but can be far more civilized than you think. Trekking
on a fully supported trek is luxurious compared to backpacking /
bushwalking. Trekking with us means all you will carry is a daypack
containing your personal needs for that day. The rest of your gear will be
transported between camps in a supplied duffle bag. How your gear is
transported will depend on terrain, local availability of Ponies, porters
and Yaks. So you can forget about heaving yourself over a hill laden with a
monstrous backpack. Cooks who trek along with us prepare meals. They are
also responsible for collecting and boiling your drinking water. Wood for
fuel is scarce and deforestation a real problem throughout the Himalaya, we
make sure Kerosene is being carried and used for cooking. The food on treks
exceeds most expectations with a wide variety of tasty and nutritious dishes
being served. Ingredients have to be carried with us for the duration of the
trek, as what will be available in villages is unreliable.

Your day
begins with tea or coffee
brought to you in your tent
followed by a bowl of warm
washing water, once packed breakfast will be served and then its back on the
trail. Mid day we stop for lunch after which the staff generally go ahead in
order have the tents pitched with your bags waiting. Its ideal to reach
camp mid afternoon say around 3
giving time to relax read a book, wash your socks or snooze. The staff will
also dig a pit toilet away from the main camp, within the privacy of a
“toilet tent During the day you will need to answer the call of nature al
fresco, there are on rare occasions toilets but they are often pretty
filthy. Dinner is served early 6 or 7pm in the “dining tent” yes tables and
chairs! It’s generally “early to bed early to rise”
