Trekking Seasons

Climate / time of year

The Himalaya encompasses a diverse range of climactic conditions throughout the year.

We cannot predict the weather. What we can do is advise on the best time of year for a trek in a certain region or you may approach us with your dates from there we can we suggest the best regions for that time of year. The last thing we want for our clients is to spend 14 days walking in the rain with leeches.

So we make a point of informing our clients, honestly what weather conditions will be like, we don’t hesitate in advising against a trek if the weather is bound to be dismal !

Bhutan & Sikkim get the most precipitation due to their proximity to the bay of Bengal, pre and post monsoonal weather can bring much rain. You can trek at other times but these are the best months to enjoy clear views and dry weather. In Ladakh, which lies beyond the reaches of monsoon, has experienced increased rainfall of late.

Best times to trek weather wise;

Ladakh & Spiti : June - mid October
Sikkim : mid October-December
Uttaranchal : April, October-November
Himanchal Pradesh : April, October-November
Nepal : Nepal has some great low altitude treks which can be done even mid winter. October-April
Bhutan : March- April & October-November
