How tough will it be ?

There are treks for people of all fitness levels and / or determination. Our treks vary from relaxed village strolls to demanding multi week expedition style explorations. We can guide you in choosing an appropriate trek.

Almas has always said, “90% of the trek is all in your head”

We have trekked with people from all walks of life & age groups with varied trekking experience. This said for non-technical treks i.e. ones where ropes crampons and ice axes will not be required; you need not be an avid hiker or have trekked before to embark on a journey on foot in the Himalaya.

After a few days walking you establish a rhythm the hours and days melt into one!  In reality you can go as slowly as you want, walk at your own pace, days can be between 4 & 9 hours. We will tailor a trek to suit you.

The distance you walk each day is varied, Its hard to give reliable distances, without a doubt 13 km of flat ground will require less time and effort than climbing and descending a mountain pass!
The stages are planned to be comfortably do-able by average walkers - many of our clients are surprised by their abilities.

NB The availability of places to pitch tents, clean water and acclimatization may mean we have to reach a certain camp an a given day but generally we have options to cut days short or go a bit further down the trail. We schedule in rest days & contingency days. In all but the most remote regions you will have the chance to meet other trekkers.
